The problem
We were running a 600-prospect outbound week off Apollo + Smartlead with a generic problem-pitch opener. Reply rate stuck at 1.4% across three weeks, A/B-tested two subject lines, no movement.
The approach
Replaced the opener with the prompt above � variables forced us to write a real signal observation per prospect instead of a templated industry name. Took ~12 minutes per 50 prospects (we use a research VA to fill the {{signal}} variable from LinkedIn + the company blog).
The outcome
Reply rate climbed from 1.4% to 9.1% over the next two cohorts of 600. 38 booked discovery calls vs. 8 the prior month. Two of those closed within the same quarter for $14k ARR each.
